THE POSITION
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Accounting Associate to join our growing team. This individual will play a key role in supporting both corporate and property level accounting, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, assisting with cash management, and contributing to the financial performance of our retail portfolio. The ideal candidate is highly organized, exceptionally detail focused, analytical, and eager to grow and learn within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial investment platform.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
Property Level Accounting
· Record and reconcile tenant rent payments, CAM recoveries, and other lease-related income.
· Track operating expenses, property taxes, and capital expenditures for shopping center assets.
· Support preparation of property-level financial statements and shareholder reporting packages.
· Track and prepare tenant rental increase notices.
· Sales Reporting & Percentage Rent Compliance.
Corporate & Portfolio Accounting
· Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor management.
· Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts for multiple entities.
· Prepare journal entries, accruals, and month-end close processes across property and fund-level entities.
Financial Analysis & Reporting
· Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for both corporate and property operations.
· Contribute to cash flow reporting, rent roll reconciliations, and portfolio performance metrics.
· Assist with lender compliance reporting and shareholder distributions.
Compliance & Process Improvement
· Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP and internal controls.
· Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and external reporting requirements.
· Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting efficiency.
THE REQUIREMENTS
· Must have a positive, self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit with an eagerness to learn and grow within the company.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· 2-5 years of accounting or finance experience ( commercial real estate or investment management preferred).
· Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
· High Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with accounting platforms (e.g., Yardi, QuickBooks, MRI, or similar) a plus.
· Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
· Strong and professional written and verbal communication skills and team-oriented mindset.
· Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.
