Job Title: Onboarding Specialist

Location: Chicago (LOOP)- hybrid, onsite 4 days/week

Job Type: 6 month Contract (potential to extend or move permanent)

Pay : $36-38/hr.

About the Role

Our client, a leading trading firm, is seeking a highly organized and proactive Onboarding Specialist to join their team. In this role, you will manage and execute all aspects of the trading counterparty onboarding process—serving as the primary point of contact and trusted guide throughout the full onboarding lifecycle. You’ll work independently while being fully supported by a collaborative and driven team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all facets of counterparty onboarding and periodic refreshes from start to finish
  • Serve as the main liaison for counterparties, collecting and vetting documentation, responding to inquiries, and providing status updates
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Compliance, Legal, Risk, Credit, Tax, etc.) to ensure onboarding requirements are met and timelines are adhered to
  • Understand and monitor the end-to-end process across departments and escalate delays or issues as needed
  • Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders and trading teams on onboarding status and key developments
  • Maintain and handle sensitive and confidential information in compliance with firm policies
  • Continuously identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Apply critical thinking and strong judgment to anticipate and resolve onboarding issues independently

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Legal Studies, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience, preferably within financial services, compliance, or a legal setting
  • Familiarity with KYC regulations and onboarding requirements strongly preferred
  • Ability to analyze counterparty documentation to support account opening processes
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines with a high sense of urgency
  • Team-oriented with strong relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in navigating the financial industry landscape and understanding market terminology
  • Self-starter who can work independently while keeping leadership informed of key updates
