Job Description

The Distribution Shift Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Distribution Manager in the management of operations through the effective utilization of distribution team members and equipment. This position will supervise and direct team members in the Manager’s absence. This is a second shift position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Actively manage daily loading and receiving of product. Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) and other written procedures are followed.
• Assist Manager in controlling labor costs through effective planning, scheduling and on-the-job training. Monitor productivity standards by analyzing metrics surrounding key performance indicators. Recommend/implement ways to improve performance.
• Monitor daily, weekly and monthly sanitation tasks to ensure the sanitation schedule is followed.
• Supervise distribution team, hold regularly scheduled team meetings and assist with timely performance reviews to ensure efficiency and productivity of team.
• Maintain accurate and complete departmental records.
• Maintain an organized, efficient and sanitary warehouse and loading dock area to exceed PJFS quality standards
• Perform duties of Distribution Manager in his/her absence.
• Ensure compliance with PJFS Safety, Sanitation and HACCP policies & procedures, federal, state and local regulations (OSHA, FDA, DOL) and all Papa John’s International, Inc., policies & procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Critical Ingredients:

• 2 + years management experience in a fast-paced warehouse/distribution environment.
• HS diploma required.
• Ability to effectively communicate and give direction verbally and in writing in English required.
• Must be able to safely operate a forklift and manual/electric pallet jack.
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic work environment.
• Basic MS office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
• WMS or similar warehouse management system experience a plus.
• Occasional travel required.
• Position requires 24/7 on-call availability, a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background check.

Functional Skills:

• Ability to effectively communicate and give direction verbally and in writing in English required.
• Must be able to safely operate a forklift and manual/electric pallet jacks.
• Microsoft Office experience preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• PeopleSoft and Kronos application experience preferred.
• Education, Experience and Certifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College education or business management development preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years’ progressive supervisory experience in a fast-paced warehouse environment required.

Additional Information

• Occasional travel required.
• Must be able to be on call 24/7.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to use hands repetitively, stand, walk, grasp firmly/strongly and/or simply/lightly with hands and use fine finger dexterity. The team member is frequently required to bend over, twist, reach above shoulder level, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, and use head and neck in a twisting or static motion and to look up and/or down, and lift and/or move up to 60 plus pounds. Occasionally, the team member is required to sit, climb, balance, push and/or pull, and lift and/or move over 61 pounds.

Essential functions are performed in a distribution/manufacturing environment and in accordance with PJ Food Service safety policies/guideline.
