Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The JWC Estimator plays a key role in developing accurate and competitive bids for sitework, grading, and utility projects. This position involves heavy daily use of HCSS HeavyBid software to analyze plans, quantities, and costs while working closely with project managers and field leaders to ensure each estimate reflects “the JWC way.” The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to grow within a high-performing team environment. Training on HCSS and JWC’s estimating processes will be provided, ensuring the right person can succeed and contribute to the continued growth and excellence of JWC.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote and enforce JWC principles – God, Family, Honor, Integrity, Safety, Accountability, Quality, and Teamwork.
  • Review, interpret, and evaluate detailed construction plans, scope of work, and constructability methods that will be consolidated into a bid strategy and pricing structure.
  • Utilize HCSS software for estimating and project management to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Perform Plan Takeoff and Quantification
  • Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects.
  • Manage the bid process to ensure timely completion of estimates.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Maintain a positive and proactive attitude towards the job and team members
  • Adhere to all company policies

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years’ experience in sitework construction management and/or estimating.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Applied Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, HCSS, or other comparable takeoff software platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
  • Independent, self-managed professional with comprehensive knowledge of the sitework industry.
  • Good decision-making skills
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The job is performed in an office. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to travel (35%) therefore exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and common transportation related elements is present. Work hours are Monday – Thursday 7 am to 5 pm and Friday 7 am to 3 pm.
