Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our dynamic logistics team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management and sales, with the ability to negotiate contracts and manage transportation effectively. As a Freight Broker, you will play a crucial role in connecting shippers with carriers, ensuring that goods are transported efficiently and cost-effectively.

Responsibilities

• Create, implement, and maintain network mining processes to identify potential new business.
• Develops relationships, business practices, and information flows to convert potential business to realized brokerage revenue and profit.
• Select, train, and motivate internal sales and brokerage operational team members.
• Manage processes, systems, incentive and recognition programs to ensure accountability for financial growth performance and profitability of transportation brokerage business.
• Manage daily operations of brokerage staff, including people management responsibilities (see below) for assigned brokerage staff.
• Ensure necessary documentation and communication with customers and carriers.
• Ensure company policies are communicated, administered, and enforced (i.e., accounting, operational, safety, regulatory, and administrative).
• Ensure associates have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and manages availability and maintenance of those tools.
• Operate within agreed budgets for the brokerage operations.
• Understand sales performance versus target objectives, identify reasons for variance, communicate results and implement necessary changes. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in supply chain management or logistics sales is preferred.
• Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms for contracts.
• Familiarity with 3PL (Third Party Logistics) operations is a plus.
• Knowledge of NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) regulations is advantageous.
• Proficiency in using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and AS400 software.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills to assess pricing strategies and market conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year

Compensation Package:

• Bonus opportunities
• Commission pay

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
