Job Description

Create spaces that inspire. Guide clients through transformations that matter. Join a team that loves people as much as design.

If you’re a designer who thrives on collaboration, creativity, and client connection , you’ll feel right at home with us. At McLennan Contracting, we believe remodeling is about far more than beautiful spaces — it’s about improving lives . Our Designers play a meaningful role in guiding homeowners through an exciting journey of ideas, selections, and discovery.

We’re looking for someone who is warm, energetic, people-savvy, and confident in leading clients through decisions. Someone who brings enthusiasm to the work, communicates with ease, and gets excited about helping clients envision what’s possible.

If you love design, love people, and love contributing to a supportive team, we want to meet you!

What You’ll Do

  • Build genuine connections with clients and guide them through our Design-Build process
  • Lead design meetings, identify client goals, and bring thoughtful, beautiful solutions to life
  • Create conceptual and detailed designs, floor plans, renderings, and material selections
  • Prepare design documentation to guide estimating and construction
  • Host showroom visits and help clients make confident selections
  • Collaborate daily with our estimators, project managers, trade partners, and design teammates
  • Maintain clear, organized project information in our systems
  • Participate in team debriefs and help us continually improve the client experience

You’ll Thrive Here If You…

  • Love people. You build rapport easily and enjoy making clients feel heard and supported
  • Bring positive energy. Your natural enthusiasm helps clients feel confident and excited
  • Value collaboration. You enjoy brainstorming, sharing ideas, and working as part of a team
  • Are intuitive and adaptable. You read people well and adjust your communication naturally
  • Like variety. Your ideal week includes meetings, design work, site visits, and creative problem-solving
  • Are self-motivated. You take initiative, keep momentum in your work, and enjoy driving a project forward
  • Can balance creativity with structure. You enjoy working within proven systems while still thinking outside the box

This role is especially fulfilling for someone who thrives in a fun, people-rich, collaborative environment where your ideas and personality shine.

What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Interior Design (or NKBA/NCIDQ certification)
  • 3+ years of residential interior design experience
  • Proficiency with design software (Chief Architect, SketchUp, 20/20, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills — both with clients and teammates
  • Warm, professional presence and the ability to build trust quickly
  • Organized, detail-minded, and able to keep projects moving
  • Valid driver’s license for client visits and site assessments

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • A creative, uplifting, supportive team culture
  • A leadership team that values your ideas and celebrates team success
  • A balanced environment where people and relationships matter
  • Growth opportunities as we continue to expand
  • A meaningful mission: to improve lives by improving homes

Work Schedule & Location

This is a full-time position averaging approximately 38-42 hours/week. Work hours are primarily between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday. Work is to be performed both at our office, located at 780 Eden Rd., Lancaster, PA, and on location at client homes and trade partner showrooms. This is not a remote position.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Total Compensation : $65,000–$85,000/year
  • Generous PTO & Holidays (including the full week between Christmas & New Year’s)
  • Health Coverage via QSEHRA reimbursement
  • Retirement Savings : IRA with company match
  • Company-Provided Tech : computer, tablet, and phone
  • Professional Development Allowance (annual)
  • Annual Team Bonus based on performance
