Lead IT Auditor

Location: West Des Moines, IA (Hybrid after 90 days)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview:

We are seeking a Lead IT Auditor with strong IT audit experience, exceptional attention to detail, and solid organizational and time-management skills. This role is ideal for someone who is results-oriented, analytical, and looking to advance their career in a dynamic audit environment.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform complex IT assurance and consulting reviews evaluating the effectiveness of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes
• Gather, analyze, and appraise audit evidence to develop observations and recommendations
• Present audit findings, risks, and proposed solutions clearly to leadership through verbal updates and formal audit reports
• Support external reviews and regulatory examinations by providing accurate and timely information
• Train and mentor junior auditors, contributing to their development and performance management
• Potentially supervise junior staff
• Research and investigate areas where audit insights may provide financial or operational benefit to the organization

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree (Information Technology preferred)
• 5+ years of relevant experience in IT auditing, information technology, or related fields
• Strong knowledge of IT application controls, IT general controls, and internal control frameworks
• Familiarity with SOX and/or Model Audit Rule (MAR) requirements
• Experience in highly regulated industries (insurance preferred but not required)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels
• Strong critical thinking, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
• High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Proficiency with Excel and ability to learn new audit or IT systems
• Professional certifications such as CISA or CIA preferred

Work Environment:

• Based in West Des Moines, Iowa
• Hybrid schedule available (up to 2 days/week remote) after 90 days
