Job Description

Join DyStar, a leader in products for the food and beverage industry. We have an immediate need in our DyStar Foam Control manufacturing plant in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for a Purchaser.

Job Summary

  • Manages the purchasing for the manufacturing site, including supply chain project management, vendor selection, cost estimating support and placement of purchase orders.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance at all times
  • Maintains product and manufacturing information in the company-wide ERP system.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports and other data to determine reasonable prices to place order for good and services.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier’s reputation and history.
  • Assist in the negotiation and administration of contracts with suppliers, vendors and other representatives on facility specific goods or services such as commodity oils as well as janitorial services or facility ground maintenance projects.
  • Maintain and review computerized or manual records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance and inventories. This includes data entry of product and manufacturing information in company-wide ERP system
  • Contact suppliers as needed to update raw material compliance information such as SDS’s, TDS, LOG, Certificate of Analysis, religious certificates, country of origin, use compliance, etc.
  • Participates in regulatory and customer audits as required.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time and resolve problems related to undelivered goods. Confer with staff, users and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
  • Approves Purchasing Quality Manual and Vendor List.
  • Evaluate and monitor contract suppliers on their performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing
  • Experience in ERP systems
  • Knowledge of Excel – such as Pivot Table, VLOOKUP, Formulas, etc.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software as well as other accounting software programs.
  • Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, phone, and copier.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able work in both an office and manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

This is an on-site role in Cheyenne, WY, and not open for hybrid or remote work.
