Principle Tasks

  • Prepare compounds, solutions and reagents to synthesize and develop catalysts per supervisors’ guidance and scientific principles. Aid in the design and synthesis of novel Iridium-based materials.
  • Determine and evaluate the relationships of chemical and physical properties, composition, structures and reactions of catalysts using characterization and catalyst performance techniques.
  • Lead projects geared towards the large-scale production of next generation oxygen evolving catalysts.
  • Analyze and interpretate results from common material characterization techniques
  • Analyze electrochemical data towards the development of catalyst systems
  • Document findings and procedures in notebooks, technical papers, and reports, preparing or following specifications and characterization and evaluation standards.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, making sure that all technology is working correctly: if it is not, troubleshoot the issue or problem.
  • Conduct quality control tests and diagnostics to ensure that equipment is operating correctly.
  • Order laboratory supplies, equipment, and chemicals as needed to maintain inventory.
  • Follow safety protocols, perform safety evaluations on developmental procedures, contribute to safety efforts with peers.
  • Maintain currency with scientific literature to expand technical and scientific knowledge to further R&D operations.

Edu/ Training/ Exp required

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or similar from an accredited university/school
  • Must possess technical laboratory skills and abilities that are generally expected from a degreed engineer and/or chemist
  • 1 to 3 years of hands-on laboratory research or process engineering experience
  • Demonstrate a collaborative R&D mindset and ability to work well in and/or lead a cross-functional environment, building strong relationships and driving results
  • Basic understanding of catalysts and electrochemistry
  • Adhere to and understanding of chemical safety
  • Experience recording and reporting on progress of work and communicating with team and supervisors effectively.
  • Must be a Citizen of the US

Additional Information/Requirements

Must be willing to relocate to and work onsite in Albuquerque, NM.
