Akkodis is looking for a Wire Harness Engineer – Pre-Series Vehicle Commissioning in Chattanooga TN . Please review the details below:

This position is responsible for ensuring that wire harnesses for pre-series vehicles meet all requirements, are ergonomically installable, and adhere to quality standards. The role involves hands-on testing, issue documentation, and collaboration with suppliers, quality teams, development, and production to resolve any electrical buildability concerns. Late and night shift support may be required.

Pay Range: $35-$50/hour ; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Type: 15+ month's contract

Responsibilities:

• Ensure wire harnesses meet all design and quality requirements.
• Verify ergonomic installability of wire harnesses in vehicles.
• Document and escalate any quality or installation issues to suppliers, quality, development, and production teams.
• Commission pre-series vehicles, analyzing errors, and implementing countermeasures to ensure on-time delivery.
• Support production teams with deeper analysis of electrical issues and provide solutions, documentation, and rework/training instructions.
• Perform wire harness tests, document results, and maintain/update ABP-Tool software and hardware.
• Coordinate wire harness testing with logistics and update components when necessary.
• Evaluate technical changes (AEKO, AWE) for buildability, cost, quality, and customer impact.
• Track pre-series build schedules and maintain high-quality standards at each stage, focusing on wire harness orientation.
• Document rework times and propose efficiency improvements.
• Lead complex problem-solving activities related to wire harness fit and function in manufacturing.
• Analyze measurement reports, CAD data, drawings, and technical descriptions for buildability issues.
• Conduct root cause analysis of electrical problems, define, and implement countermeasures.
• Document buildability issues in KMP, Streifenliste, or similar tools and distribute reports accordingly.
• Perform part sample production trials to identify process defects, confirm product changes, and improve quality.
• Optimize operating processes, production time, and product costs while initiating necessary changes.
• Develop and integrate specialized tools, models, and templates as required.
• Organize and participate in meetings, providing regular updates and reports.
• Confirm production readiness and grant build approvals for pre-series electronics.

Requirements:

• Degree (preferred) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with automotive wire harness structure, testing, and assembly processes.
• Hands-on experience with pre-series vehicle commissioning.
• Knowledge of change management and build process optimization.
