We are looking to hire a Freelance Senior UI/UX Designer to start late March / early April 2025. In this role, you’ll craft compelling user-centered designs and guide the digital design process. The ideal candidate believes design solutions should be rooted in strategic thought and have a passion for developing experiences that both serve the user and align with business goals. This role is hybrid to our Chicago or St. Joseph, MI office.

Responsibilities:

• Design and Prototype: Create UI comps, interactive prototypes, pattern sets, design specs, and assets for a variety of deliverables.
• Build and Maintain Design Systems: Reinforce usage of existing UI elements and design systems while driving future evolution.
• User-Centered Design: Deliver user-centric designs by providing strategic direction and innovative ideas.
• Experience Design: Ensure design elements work harmoniously with content to create a seamless and engaging user experience.
• Strategic Perspective: Develop wireframes, user journeys, and user flows to optimize user experience.
• Advocate for the User: Proactively identify UX/UI solutions that address both user needs and business goals, going beyond the initial brief.
• Communication and Presentation: Present work to internal stakeholders with a strong storytelling POV, rationale and connection to the client brief.
• Take an active role in presenting UX/UI strategies, solutions and designs to clients – clearly articulating how design decisions meet user needs and business objectives.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of digital UX/UI design experience with a strong portfolio highlighting prototypes, comps, and visual design projects.
• Must be available to start freelancing late March / early April 2025.
• Understanding of content management systems capabilities to ensure designs are implemented within technical constraints and align with final production requirements.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with a variety of design tools including Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or equivalent.
• Understanding of Design Principals: A clear understanding of UI & UX design principles and best practices.
• Agile Experience: Previous experience working in design sprints or in an Agile environment.
• Soft Skills: Savvy flexibility and resourcefulness.
• Self-Starter: Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines autonomously.
• Analytical Skills: Obsessive curiosity about how users interact with digital experiences driving optimization.
• Communication Skills: An expert grasp of language to create clear communication for any audience – from consumers to trade experts.
