Staff Accountant – Rockville, MD

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end close processes. A strong background in inventory accounting is essential, as well as advanced Excel skills to analyze financial data effectively. Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, acquisition-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Inventory Accounting: Maintain and reconcile inventory records, including tracking purchases, adjustments, and cost allocations.
• General Accounting: Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Assist with invoice processing, vendor payments, and customer billing as needed.
• Financial Analysis: Utilize Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros preferred) to analyze financial data, identify trends, and assist in forecasting.
• Reconciliations: Perform bank reconciliations, general ledger account reconciliations, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
• System Management: Assist in maintaining financial data within Sage Intacct or other ERP systems.
• Audit Support: Prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on inventory management.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis, and macros preferred).
• Experience with Sage Intacct or similar ERP systems preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Base salary is 70-80k + quarterly bonus opportunities and strong health, dental, vision and 401k plans
